This lovely rescue pooch is looking for a second chance at a happy ending! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Lucy, a 5 year old Shih Tzu mix from Seattle, Washington. She is spayed, house trained, crate trained, and up to date on her vaccinations. Lucy requires an experienced adopter in an adult-only home where she would be the only pet.
This tiny 18-pound gal was surrendered to a high kill shelter still wearing her little sweater – their rescuers don’t know the tale but presume that her owner died. Luckily, she was rescued last minute from this horrible situation and is now in a foster family, waiting for that special someone that will shower her with love and kindness. Owing to her ruff past, Lucy needs someone who is experienced with rescue dogs and is willing to put in the time and the patience this pooch needs to relax and be herself again.
Lucy is potty trained, walks well on a leash, and crate trained. In fact, she loves spending time in her crate as she sees it as a safe space. She’s timid and distrustful of new people and animals, but she loves her crate and her stuffed toys- it’s the two things that give her the most comfort. She’s rarely seen without a plushie by her side – or in her mouth!
Due to her history, Lucy requires an adult-only home and a household without any other pets – cats and dogs both. She will need a person that is committed and willing to help her get out of her shell and get the life she deserves- and it takes a special someone for that.
If you think you have what it takes to make Lucy’s tail wag again, contact 6dogrees Rescue for more information about the adoption process. Fingers crossed!
A proud mama to seven dogs and ten cats, Angela spends her days writing for her fellow pet parents and pampering her furballs, all of whom are rescues. When she’s not gushing over her adorable cats or playing with her dogs, she can be found curled up with a good fantasy book.
